Emergency Operation Center
Project Overview - Poughkeepsie, New York
This commission involved the design and construction of a new county wide 911 Emergency Operations Center for the County of Dutchess, NY. The design was grounded by an in depth study of other such operations, a thorough review of the then existing County Public Safety Complex, prioritizing security issues, and developing a comprehensive architectural solution. The decision to build a new secure stand-alone facility that would be connected to the existing building with a new entrance lobby not only helped to better organize the entire Emergency Response Operation around a unified entry/control point but also allowed for logical construction sequencing in order to keep the current operations running at all times. Tinkelman Architecture provided all requisite architectural/engineering services for the design and construction of this facility, including coordination with the county’s team of public safety consultants during programming. TA also prepared a comprehensive design, phasing and budget presentation to the County Legislature.
