This challenging project involved the renovation of a 1800s farmhouse/stable as well as the design of a modern, well equipped kitchen fit for a world class chef. There were several key items in the layout and design of this kitchen requested by the client. 1. The work area must have a great deal of natural lighting. 2. The work triangle (water-heat-refrigeration) had to be no more than three steps apart. The constraints of having low ceiling heights limited the use of wall mounted cabinets, so to compensate; three foot deep counters with deep drawers were installed. To further maximize space, under counter refrigerator and freezer units were utilized. To retain the feel of the original 1800s house, the hand hewn beams were left. The kitchen is easy to function in, and friends feel comfortable conversing with the chef while he works.
