An exercise in new urbanism, the Jackson Crossing project consists of two prominent sites that are located in the heart of the historic Village of Fishkill. The project called for an elegant integration of townhouses and condominiums into the context of the Village, as well as a necessity to provide retail space for local businesses.
The TA team addressed this challenge by developing a design strategy that would employ the historical motifs of the Village's architecture in a modern and refreshing context. To do so, a broad mixed-use building was proposed along Main Street and further multi-family residential buildings to its rear. Acting as a strong Village presence, the Main Street building would house retail and office spaces throughout its ground floor, and duplex units above. To anchor the project onto the corner of Main Street and Jackson Avenue, our team proposed the reconstruction of a non-salvageable historically significant structure.
