Location: Fishkill, NY

This project was an exercise in new urbanism and consists of two prominent sites that are located in the heart of the historic Village of Fishkill. Tinkelman Architecture was chosen for its ability to understand the complex issues associated with the insertion of new buildings with multi-purpose programs into areas with highly developed character such as Fishkill. The project makes use of historical motifs relevant to the Village's architecture, while recognizing that these are modern buildings with unique character and needs of their own. The Main Street site will be home to groups of townhouses and duplex condominiums. In addition, a large mixed use building on Main Street will house ground floor retail and office space with residential duplex units above. The re-creation of a historically significant structure now on site but not salvageable will anchor the project at the corner of Main Street and Jackson Avenue and provide a focal point visible up and down the main thoroughfare of the village.
