Location: Putnam Valley, NY
For this project, Tinkelman Architecture was charged with the creation of a new, state-of-the-art E-911 Emergency Operations Center and Training Facility in Putnam County, New York.
This next generation 25,000 square foot government structure includes an E-911 Dispatch Communications Center, an Emergency Operations Center and a Command & Control facility along with multi-purpose classrooms, library and requisite administrative offices for the daily functions that are provided by the County's Bureau of Emergency Services. A hi-tech multi-purchase auditorium (capacity-150) was also created for use by the many emergency service agencies as well as the county government at large.
The single-story structure exhibits an aesthetically pleasing balance of multiple masonry materials and colored metal panels together with glass and steel components. The scale, materials, and color reflect the adjacent structures in the multiple building campus.
Tinkelman Architecture, together with their team of professional consultants, provided comprehensive architectural and engineering services, including initial project programming and schematic design through preparation of thorough construction documents and construction administration services. Detailed cost estimates provided during the design process by the project team were within a half percent of the accepted project bids. Despite its open appearance, the structure has been hardened and secured to meet the County's requirements.
Through careful programming and strategic planning regarding such complex issues as redundancy, security and, up-to-date technology, this facility has been created to efficiently operate under catastrophic circumstances.
