Tinkelman Architecture Office
Fulfilling a longstanding dream, Tinkelman Architecture used its extensive knowledge of renovation to create a new firm office, located on the second floor of a disused warehouse. In addition to laying out a modern open office plan reflective of our collaborative culture, the project involved major new construction to provide full accessibility. Important features include a new entry stair and covered landing, a ramp partially enclosed in metal panels, and targeted upgrades to the facades.
Child Abuse Prevention Center
As a follow up to its work on the second floor, Tinkelman Architecture developed a new home for the Child Abuse Prevention Center on the first floor of its building. The project involved layout of a complex program as well as assistance with budgeting, selection of furniture, and coordination between the County and the Center staff. The exterior was re styled to reflect the new inner life within the simple masonry shell, and plays on the themes established by the TA Office project. Construction challenges included extensive masonry repairs and threading new building services through the antique envelope.
Van Wagner Place
This multi phased mixed use project encompasses renovations to existing houses and a warehouse on the corner of Springside and The Arterial in the Town of Poughkeepsie. Following the successful renovation of the south side buildings, properties were acquired on the north side of Springside and designs developed to create an important new urban place. Upon completion in the spring of 2016, this phase will provide 22 new rental apartments in two buildings as well as 3300 square feet of new commercial space and a plaza that will serve as a community focal point. In addition to the new construction, the project includes an existing frame house, continuing a theme of renovation and revitalization combined with new construction that is a hallmark of TA’s philosophy.
