Pleasant Valley Mill Park

The Old Mill Park project was multifaceted in its scope and sensitive in its context. The project consisted of the adaptive reuse of the site's eighteenth-century mill complex and its adjacent grounds that overlook the Wappinger Creek. The once overgrown and unmaintained space now serves as a municipal park and new meeting spaces for the Town of Pleasant Valley and its Historical Society.

An archaeological recreation of the mill complex and surrounding grounds led to the creation an exterior "room" that is engaged with the creek but sheltered from the traffic of Main Street. A path was added along the waterfront, as well as an accessible fishing pier. Additional focal points include the grand Veterans Memorial and small amphitheater that wraps a stone fountain.
